Alumni Achieving

LDE alumni Florian – now a second-year student at Escape Studios – graciously returned to our college to deliver an inspiring assembly for our year 12 and 13 learners.

Escape Studios is at the forefront of creative education, supplying the industry with studio-ready talent by offering courses in Visual Effects (VFX), Game Art and Animation and Motion Graphics.

In the assembly, Florian shared the benefits of making the most of all the opportunities available here at LDE UTC by sharing all the experiences that he had during his time here. At LDE UTC, Florian took initiative and put himself forward for a range of employer engagement opportunities. This willingness led him to collaborate with companies such as Augmentifyit and Edtech, receive work experience opportunities and even attend events at Amazon HQ. By taking advantage of all that was on offer at the college, Florian is now in a position to pursue his dream career of being a game developer.

Florian also shared public speaking tips, discussed the importance of growing a social media presence and challenged the learners to invest one hour each day into their passion.

When asked by our Digital Media and Computer Science teacher Alan Soong, ‘When do you think learners should start getting involved in opportunities?’ Florian unhesitatingly responded, "ASAP. As soon as you see an opportunity, you can get involved straight away. No matter how old you are, no matter what experience you have. You don’t need to know everything to get involved in an opportunity at the college – you just need to be willing to learn."

Florian has grasped the ethos and mantra of Geoffrey Fowler, CEO & Principal of the college: 'don’t look back on missed opportunities'. He now advances in pursuit of his dream career, benefitting from all the investments he made while here at LDE UTC. We are grateful to Florian for returning to the college and inspiring our year 12 and 13 learners.
