Jenna, Co-Founder of Mackie Myers, visited our learners to deliver a masterclass on the art of crafting an effective CV.
Mackie Myers specialises in Finance, Operations, and Executive recruitment for Commercial and Not-For-Profit Sectors. With over 15 years of recruitment experience and an impressive track record of reviewing over 50,000 CVs, Jenna's insights were for this session.
Jenna began the masterclass by sharing intriguing facts about the recruitment process and CVs, revealing that 98% of large corporates use AI to scan CVs and 1 in 5 UK employers have rejected candidates due to their social media profiles (LinkedIn).
Learners then delved into the finer points of CV creation, where Jenna emphasised the importance of including elements such as academic achievements, musical and sporting accomplishments, major school projects, proficiency with systems and technology, volunteering experience, and work experience.
Jenna also shared top tips for crafting an exceptional CV such as to approach their CV as if it were a presentation, highlighting the significance of context, concise bullet points, key phrase optimization, and the customization of CVs for specific job roles. To illustrate these tips in action, Jenna presented an example CV, breaking down its various components.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where Jenna provided specific answers to learners' questions, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the CV creation process.
