For our first-year T Level engineering learners, the journey is a thrilling blend of knowledge, practice, and real-world experience. To give our learners insight of what to expect on this exciting course, we turned to Diya, a second year T level student studying in at Harrow UTC for a virtual masterclass.
Diya kicked off the virtual session with a quote by Benjamin Franklin: "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me, and I learn." She eloquently compared the T Level experience to this powerful quote, highlighting how it goes beyond traditional, theoretical modes of study. It's an immersive journey that allows learners to dive headfirst into the industry, gaining practical skills and knowledge along the way.
Diya's perspective, as someone just a few steps ahead on her T Level journey, made her insights relatable and valuable. She generously shared her experiences, offering a roadmap for what lies ahead.
She walked our learners through their first year, providing a clear picture of what to expect. Diya also delved into practical advice on how to approach this year effectively. Additionally, she introduced the learners to "Navigate," an online application they'll be using to log work experience and create their CVs—a vital skill for any aspiring engineer.
One of the highlights of Diya's journey was her work placement, where she had the opportunity to work on the groundbreaking HS2 project with Skanska. She shared her experiences and the invaluable knowledge she gained from this hands-on opportunity.
To conclude this masterclass, our learners had the chance to engage in a lively question-and-answer session. This interactive discussion allowed them to gain further insights into what to expect in the world of engineering and how to make the most of their T Level journey.
Diya's journey is a testament to the rich learning experience that T Level engineering offers. It's a path that involves, inspires, and leads to profound understanding and growth.
