Navigating the Workplace

Our year 12 learners recently had the privilege of a visit from Juliet and Kate, representing Talent Foundry, who conducted a Barclays Life Skills masterclass on Preparation for Work. This session was focused on instilling positive attitudes and behaviours essential for navigating the world of work.

Talent Foundry, a UK education charity, collaborates with businesses to guide learners in exploring potential careers and developing crucial skills. They specialise in supporting young people, partnering with schools and industry to help them discover their talents.

During the interactive masterclass, learners actively participated in discussions and explored hypothetical situations, fostering engagement and the sharing of diverse viewpoints. The session delved into the nuances of professional behaviours in the workplace, emphasising the importance of understanding workplace culture.

The learners partook in discussions around questions like 'how should someone dress?' and 'what ways can someone show respect to others?' Learners worked in groups to discuss and provide feedback to the class. The session concluded with a group discussion on various workplace situations, collectively identifying the best approaches to navigate these scenarios.

We extend our gratitude to Juliet and Kate for delivering an interactive and insightful masterclass, equipping our learners with valuable skills as they embark on their vocational journeys beyond LDE UTC.
