Our Year 3 apprentices visited the Silvertown Tunnel project by Riverlinx to gain insights into large-scale infrastructure projects, with a focus on the latest technologies in tunnelling within the broader context of civil engineering.
Riverlinx, in partnership with TfL, ?is designing and building a new 1.4km twin-lane tunnel, under the river Thames, which will be completed in Spring 2025, linking North Greenwich and Silvertown for the first time.
Following this visit, they had the privilege of participating in three masterclasses with the project team at the site where they examined the design of a construction, investigated methods and techniques used in a construction project and explored the impact of a construction project
This visit is part of the apprentices’ Employer Led Project as they are currently in the process of developing a reflective portfolio covering aspects from design to socio-economic and environmental considerations.
Special thanks to Janice for connecting us with Riverlinx, and gratitude to Cristina, Deputy HR Manager at Riverlinx, for her presence throughout the ELP.
