Our year 9 & 10 Design learners were joined by Becky from Runway Training for a masterclass on the effects of global warming.
Runway Training are a specialist training provider with a range of sessions on different skills such as Functional Skills and Leadership & Management training. Throughout the year, Runway Training have come into the college to deliver amazing sessions on presentation skills, Interior design and many other interesting subjects.
During the session learners explored the following questions: What does climate change mean? What is climate change? Learners were also taught the difference between climate and weather.
They discussed the negative factors of climate change and, through this discussion, explored key concepts such as greenwashing, prime forests and ozone layer.
As learners gained insight into the main contributors to global warming, they came up with solutions and actions that could reduce this negative impact.
Thanks to Runway Training for their continued support of the college and for shining light on such an important subject. As the future of our civilisation is in the hands of our learners, it is important they understand what is impacting our planet and what actions we can take about it.
‘One of the key concepts on the year 10 curriculum involves explored climate change and its effects on society and then leading using this knowledge to influence the choice of materials when undergoing a construction project. Having Becky from Runway training deliver a masterclass offered great insight into this concept,’ William, Curriculum Lead Design.
