Our year 12 learners recently had the privilege of visiting the esteemed Britvic factory in Beckton, where they delved into the inner workings of a leading international soft drinks business.
The day commenced with an insightful talk by Vinnie, a seasoned site engineering manager at Britvic. With 15 years of experience in the company, as well as a background in the pharmaceutical and aerospace industry, Vinnie shared valuable vocational advice while shedding light on his career journey and the responsibilities he undertakes in his role.
During the visit, the learners were introduced to Britvic's core values—'We care,' 'We're courageous,' 'We act with pace,' 'We're stronger together,' and 'We own it.' They discovered how these values form the foundation of the company's collaborative efforts and drive its success. Learners gained firsthand knowledge about the Britvic site, which has been under their ownership since 1987. They were impressed to learn about the six PET lines and the dedicated team of 195 employees. Additionally, they explored the exciting apprenticeship opportunities offered by the company and the various pathways for career progression.
The highlight of the visit was a fascinating tour of the factory, where the learners witnessed the PET lines in operation and engaged with employees to understand the pivotal role that engineers play in maintaining the smooth functioning of the operation.
