A Collaborative Approach with Agora Group

Our year nine female learners engaged in an exciting Employer Led Project aimed at exploring ways to attract more women into the engineering industry. The session was led by Rachel, the Talent and Training Manager at Agora Group, the UK's leading provider of Technical, Design, and Asset Management.

During the session, Rachel discussed the Agora traineeship program, providing learners with valuable insights into potential career opportunities. The learners were then tasked to tackle a group challenge: devising innovative strategies to attract more women to join Agora's Trainee Engineer Programme.

Working collaboratively, learners brainstormed and crafted presentations showcasing at least four creative approaches to draw quality women applicants into Catering Engineering. Armed with A3 paper, pens, and vibrant colours, they passionately outlined their ideas, ensuring each proposal was complemented by a thoughtful plans and cost considerations to fit within Agora's budget.

After thirty minutes of dynamic discussion, the groups eagerly presented their solutions, utilising the knowledge they gained about Agora to inform their proposals. Their innovative ideas left a lasting impression on the visiting team from Agora, who expressed their commitment to taking these proposals back to their organisation and considering their implementation.

The session proved to be a truly empowering experience for our learners, fostering their confidence and encouraging them to envision themselves as future leaders in the engineering industry. By collaborating with industry professionals and actively engaging in real-world challenges, our young learners gained invaluable exposure to the possibilities within engineering.

We extend our gratitude to Rachel and the Agora Group for providing our learners with this unique opportunity to be a part of an effort that will no doubt affect them as the future engineering and industry leaders of this generation.

‘The group really appreciated sharing their opinion about careers in engineering with such a fantastic company. They were focused on generating amazing ideas in their group and really pleased to hear such positive feedback from Rachel who intends to further explore these ideas within the company!’ Lena, Assistant Principal.
