Our Year 9 learners had an incredible opportunity to attend a unique and engaging careers fair held at the Guildhall. The event, organised by the City of London Livery Companies, showcased a wide range of professions, trades, and crafts, offering our learners valuable insights into various career pathways.
Throughout the fair, our learners were immersed in many hands-on experiences, with a range of practical tasks and demonstrations on display. They had the chance to witness skilled craftspeople and professionals in action, marvelling at their expertise and creativity. From watchmaking to basketmaking, the learners discovered unique and intriguing job possibilities they hadn't encountered before.
Not only did our learners observe and interact with professionals, but they also had the opportunity to discuss different career paths and seek guidance from experts in their respective fields. These conversations allowed our learners to gain valuable insights, ask questions, and envision their own future career trajectories.
Aiya, one of our learners, expressed her excitement and enthusiasm, saying, "I learnt so many things throughout the careers fair and found out about such unique jobs like watchmaking and basketmaking. It was so interesting!" Ronnie shared a similar sentiment, stating, "It was very intriguing as I met many different talented people. I met an architect, and we made a collage of a modern building which was really fun." Eva also had a positive experience, remarking, "It was a very good experience. It was nothing like I had done before, and I even got to try out job roles on some of the stalls!"
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the City of London Livery Companies for organising this insightful event. Their commitment to providing our learners with exposure to a diverse range of careers and inspiring them to explore unique pathways is truly commendable.
‘We have attended the liveries showcase event every year since the college began and it’s a great opportunity for our learners to experience careers that may not have heard about. There is a range of historic and iconic careers that never ceases to amaze our learners. Thank you for inviting us along and see you again next year!’ Gloria, Vice Principal.
