Guiding Learners on Career Pathways

Our learners recently participated in a career guidance masterclass hosted by Uptree, a company dedicated to bridging the gap between education and employment.

Uptree’s mission is to offer young people free career education and work experience opportunities, driving equality in career access.

The session introduced Uptree's approach to career guidance, sharing the 10 stages of the Uptree student journey, which covers online lessons, work experience, and application masterclasses. This pathway is designed to help young people build skills and gain valuable experiences.

The session also focused on personal goal setting and the individuality of career journeys. Our visitor encouraged learners to inspect their skills, character and interests in order to achieve vocational success. Learners also heard from the experiences of an Uptree alumni, who shared the impact Uptree had on their career path.

An important topic covered was the recent changes to the UCAS 2024 application process, emphasising the growing importance of work experience in university admissions. This shift highlights the need for practical skills alongside academic achievements which Uptree can support with.

At the end of the masterclass, learners were encouraged to sign up with Uptree to take advantage of these career development opportunities. This Uptree session offered our learners valuable insights into career planning and the resources available to support them on their path to employment.
