Charting Future Pathways

Natasha from the Department for Work and Pensions visited our college to lead two masterclasses on post 16 options with selected key stage 4 learners.

In an open dialogue about career choices, Natasha and our learners engaged in a detailed exploration of different job roles and their corresponding pathways. Learners enjoyed in-depth discussions about specific careers such as teaching, football coaching, and bus driving. Natasha highlighted key skills, such as leadership and teamwork, and discussed their importance in different job roles. During this discussion, learners were encouraged to articulate their skills and apply them to workplace scenarios.

Pivoting from career choices and moving into the practicalities of achieving employment, Natasha led a CV-writing exercise where our visitor’s guidance throughout this process was invaluable, helping learners create and refine their resumes.

By connecting skills with their real-world applications, our learners had the opportunity to envision their post-16 paths in a positive environment that fostered vocational awareness and self-reflection.

“This masterclass has equipped our learners with the knowledge and confidence to explore their post-16 options, laying the groundwork for their future success.” Janice, Head of careers.

Thanks to Natasha for facilitating such an impactful series of masterclasses.
