Our learners had the unique opportunity to delve into the world of precision tool maintenance and entrepreneurship with Gervase, the innovative mind behind G-Sharp Tools. As the founder and owner, Gervase has revolutionised the way chisels and plane blades are sharpened with his benchtop honing guide. This visit provided our learners not only with practical skills but also an invaluable insight into the journey of bringing an invention to life. 

Gervase took our learners through the entire development process of his invention, from the initial ideation stage, creating prototypes, securing intellectual property, to navigating manufacturing challenges and market entry. His hands-on demonstration of the honing guide allowed each learner to engage directly with the tool, enhancing their understanding and appreciation for the craftsmanship involved in tool maintenance. 

Under Gervase's guidance, our learners worked independently to sharpen a set of six chisels and a plane blade, applying the techniques demonstrated. Through personalised feedback and coaching from Evans, they mastered the sharpening process, gaining not only a practical skill set but also the confidence to maintain essential woodworking tools.
