Navigating the Professional World

Our Year 12 and Year 13 Computer Science learners enjoyed a masterclass in employability skills, facilitated by Jacob from The Talent Foundry and supported by global financial services provider M&G plc. This session aimed to enhance our A level learners' preparation for their Non-Examined Assessments (NEA) and equipped our T level learners with essential skills for their ongoing work placements.

The workshop included hands-on activities designed to develop key employability skills such as communication, resilience, and teamwork. Learners engaged in a dynamic marketing activity where they created presentations on the benefits of investing, applying their creative and analytical skills in a team setting. They also undertook the Myers-Briggs personality test, gaining insights into how personal traits could influence their professional paths.

Aaron, a participating learner, expressed his enthusiasm: "We got to do a range of different activities that you wouldn’t normally expect in a classroom setting, like a personality test and even creating our own marketing strategies. It was a really hands-on session and I enjoyed it a lot."

Computer Science Teacher Amit highlighted the session's practical benefits: "The session provided real-world contextualisation for the A level learners' NEA projects as before this session, many learners were struggling with ideas. For our T level learners, preparing for the industry is crucial, especially as they have work placement in their course."

Tamima shared: "It was a very fun and engaging experience; it gave me the opportunity to learn more about industry environments."

Thanks to The Talent Foundry and M&G plc for their commitment to enhancing our learners' educational and professional development.
