During our learning for life sessions, LDE UTC learners were treated to an exciting and interactive session with Giles Abban and Jean-Pascal Barbe from Channel Four’s Hunted.
Hunted is a British reality series, featuring contestants who are instructed to go on the run for a period of 25 days in mainland Great Britain, whilst avoiding a team of Hunters composed of former and serving police, intelligence personnel, and on-foot teams. |
Our visitors began the session by detailing the vocational pathway that led them to their current careers. Alongside starring on Hunted, Giles is a Customer Success Manager at Cybsafe and Co-Founder of youth and mentorship company Sharp Edged. Jean-Pascal Barbe is a Met Police Senior Detective and Hunter on Channel Four's show Hunted; as well as for the show's French counterpart on Amazon Prime. With such a wealth of experience across exciting vocational fields, learners were excited by Giles’ and Jean-Pascal's career pathways.
After an inspirational talk from our visitors, our learners had the chance to be the hunted! Giles and Jean-Pascal challenged our learners to work together in groups to formulate the plan they’d use to evade the hunters. Learners had to consider what they would eat, how they would get away, what they would wear and many other factors. Once the learners had discussed their getaways, the hunters questioned each group’s idea and gave them a score out of ten.
‘I really enjoyed the learning for life session, it was interactive and interesting to discuss trying to get away from the hunters. It was also inspiring to hear the visitors talk about the decisions that led them to onto their current career paths,’ Gabe, year 13 learner.
