Sami from the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) recently visited our Engineering & Product Design learners to unveil an exciting opportunity: the 2024 edition of the Technology Design and Innovation (TDI) Challenge. This prestigious competition invites learners to unleash their creativity and innovation.
The challenge is straightforward yet stimulating. Learners are tasked with designing a new product or concept, explaining its application, and producing a short video, no more than 2 minutes, to showcase how their invention will benefit users. It’s a chance for our learners to demonstrate their creative talent to an industry that thrives on vision and innovation.
One of the great aspects of the TDI Challenge is its flexibility. Entrants can use their existing Design and Technology coursework from school or college, or they can opt to submit an entirely new idea. Whether it's a cardboard mock-up or a CAD model, all forms of design are welcome, encouraging a wide range of creative expressions.
The competition offers enticing prizes. For the top three entries, a thrilling day out awaits at a Cup Motorsport Race Day with UWR. Additionally, schools and colleges have the opportunity to win prizes to invest in D&T and Engineering equipment and activities.
During her visit, Sami not only detailed the competition logistics but also inspired our learners to participate. She emphasised that beyond the potential prizes, the value lies in the experiences and recognition that come with contributing to the competition. It’s a unique platform for our learners to showcase their abilities and potentially influence the future of design and technology. For more information on this competiton click here.
