Our year 9 science learners enjoyed a virtual visit from NHS degree apprentices for a talk about careers in the NHS. Learners heard from Thomas- a Physiotherapist Degree Apprentice and Jade- a Nurse Degree Apprentice.
Founded in 1948, The National Health Service is the publicly funded healthcare system in England. It is the second largest single-payer healthcare system in the world. Inspiring the Future is an Education and Employers charity that puts young people across the country in touch with a diverse range of workplace volunteers in a range of industries. With the support of Inspiring the Future, NHS Ambassadors have interacted with over 400,000 young people since 2018. |
Our virtual visitors gave a summary of their day-to-day job roles, shared the apprenticeship course structure and shared their pathways into their current positions. It was particularly interesting to hear about what motivated them to work with the NHS, as well as the rewards and challenges of undertaking such an important job position. Our speakers also shared valuable advice about succeeding in the medical industry and stressed the importance of gaining work experience.
The session was concluded with an insightful Q&A, where the NHS apprentices shared specific experiences and lessons learned during their apprenticeship.
Thanks to Thomas and Jade for an insightful talk about your careers at the NHS and thanks for all the hard work you do for the health of this nation.
