Anna Milewskwa, Senior Outreach Officer for Loughborough University visited some of our year 13 learners to deliver 1:1 personal statement mentoring sessions.
Loughborough University consistently ranks among the top-performing institutions in the country and holds an array of awards and accolades for high performance in research, sport, student experience and facilities. One of Anna’s job roles at the university involves delivering a wide variety of presentations, training and advice sessions, workshops to raise awareness, aspirations, and support recruitment activity.
Our visitor read through the personal statements with each mentee; she discussed the topics our learners covered in their writing and offered valuable feedback. As a result of working through the personal statements in a 1:1 session, our mentees can now better articulate the passion they have for their chosen subject. Not only did learners improve their personal statements, they also had the opportunity to talk with Anna about university life and ask any questions.
Muskan, who plans to study architecture at university shared that, ‘Anna helped me clear up any sections of my personal statement that I was confused about and also discussed topics I should add to be more noticeable. It was helpful.’
‘Having a university professional available to add a further layer of support to our year 13 learners at this crucial time, has been invaluable today. Those who took advantage of this opportunity have all walked away with some final clarity to add the finishing touches to their personal statement, ready for submission to UCAS,’ Janice Tricks, Careers and Progression.
