Year 12 digital media enjoyed an exciting project set by Promethean to demonstrate the use of interaction on the Promethean ActivPanels. Learners were challenged to create an interactive 3D demo using the ActivPanel and present their projects live at #Bett2022 on the Promethean stand! Promethean is a global education technologies company that provide collaborative teaching software to enhance classroom productivity.
The project brief required learners to demonstrate the following skills:
- Demonstrate Touchscreen Design at a live event
- Create a 3D model (character or vehicle) with materials and animation
- Create a model to client requirement
- Demonstrate presentation skills: to be able to describe the process of creating the model
As well as delivering presentations at #Bett2022, our learners presented their models to Digital Media teacher James during class time. Learners were confident and articulate when presenting their 3D models. They demonstrated careful consideration to the inspirations gained from other animations and explained the range of different programs and skills used to create their models. They received feedback on these presentations from both James and Promethean.
‘It is important for learners to have the ability to present using interactive technologies as their destinations require them to be able to articulate and demonstrate ideas in non-linear ways where exploration can lead to success. The Digital media sector is varied and growing exponentially- this project places our learners at the forefront of this skilled workforce,’ James Culley, Digital Media Teacher.
This Employer Led Project is also a part of Unit three of the Digital Media curriculum.
