UCAS Application and Personal Statement Masterclass

In a recent visit to LDE, Sarah from Loughborough University conducted a masterclass to assist our year 12 learners in navigating the UCAS application process and crafting compelling personal statements.
The masterclass began with a comprehensive overview of the UCAS cycle, from the initial stages of researching courses and attending open days to receiving A-level results and confirming a place.

Sarah also offered valuable advice about what to consider when deciding on a university course; she encouraged learners to research the course structure as even the same course titles have different modules.

The focus then shifted to the personal statement, a critical element of UCAS applications. Learners received expert advice on creating impactful personal statements that reflect their motivation, drive, and passion for their chosen field. Sarah highlighted the significance of showcasing relevant skills and experiences that would contribute to their success as university students. Learners were also encouraged to express their their interests, personal journey and achievements to demonstrate their dedication to their desired course.

The masterclass concluded with a question-and-answer session, allowing learners to seek further clarification and gain additional insights into the application process.

Thanks to Sarah for this informative visit and for Loughborough University for their continued support of the college.
