Our T level Digital Production, Design and Development learners were invited to the Mayor’s Fund for London “Bridging the Gap in Tech” event. Ran by Access Aspiration employability programme, this event demonstrated dynamic routes into the tech industry by inviting leading professionals to take part in a panel discussion.
On the panel:
Camilo Castañeda is a Mechanical Engineer turned Youtuber and Creator of the Ads for leading brands.
Gemma Penson is a Technology Consultant at EY, with expertise in finance and a leader in EY’s 'Women in Technology Network'.
Steve Bowpitt MBCS is Head of Infrastructure Ops & Security at SThree with 20 years of experience across cloud, cybersecurity, and AI.
Tina Shahmirzadi is an ex-Google & Snapchat marketer with 5+ years of experience in creating innovative digital marketing strategies.
As the panel was made up of a diverse range of leaders across the tech industry, learners were inspired with a fruitful and comprehensive discussion ranging from social media to cyber security. Thanks to the diversity of professionals who shared their experiences, learners benefitted from hearing about a diverse range of journeys leading into the tech industry.
As well as enjoying engaging talks, our learners also had the opportunity to take in part in a speed networking activity. Learners went around the room interacting with different employers from different tech companies where they could ask specific questions in relation to their career aspirations.
We extend our thanks to The Mayor’s Fund for London and Access Aspiration, who are working to realise the immense potential of young people across London by bridging the gap and providing these invaluable career opportunities.
"This was a truly impactful experience for out T Level learners, who left this event more informed, inspired and excited by the prospect of stepping into the tech industry," Sarah, Industry Placement Coordinator.
