Our product design learners were invited to a design exhibition, where they had the chance to explore and be inspired by the innovative work showcased by university graduates. The exhibition covered a wide range of disciplines, including interior design, product design, furniture design, 3D design, and design engineering.
During the visit, our learners were given a task to engage with the exhibitors and conduct interviews with three students from different universities. They explored the inspiration behind their designs, their target audience, and how their products met their needs. These interviews provided valuable insights that could be incorporated into their own projects.
One of our year 12 learners Chris shared his experience and excitement about the trip, ‘This trip gave me the opportunity to gather ideas for my NEA (non-exam assessment) project, which focuses on creating a versatile storage product tailored to individuals' preferences and uses. The conversations I had expanded my understanding of product design and offered new visual ideas for my project. The highlight of the day was having opportunity to engage with university students and gain inspiration from their work.’
This visit not only exposed our learners to the latest trends and innovations in product design but also provided them with real-world insights from emerging designers. We are grateful for the invitation to the exhibition and the valuable experience it provided to our learners. It was an excellent opportunity for them to interact with industry professionals and gain inspiration for their future projects.
