Apprentices from LDE UTC’s Engineering Skills College attended the Youth Build UK (YBUK) Awards Ceremony at the House of Commons, celebrating young people who have overcome challenges and built successful futures through hard work and determination.
Representing the college were Gill Lois, Apprenticeship Business Lead, and Sharna Rolle, who joined finalists, employers, and educators from across the UK for an afternoon of celebration and inspiration.
It was an uplifting event filled with stories of perseverance and achievement, showcasing the transformative impact of vocational education and the opportunities it creates for young people.
A proud moment came when Tanvi Aytan and Christopher Chai, both apprentices from LDE UTC, were recognised as finalists and received Highly Commended awards in their categories for the Young Builder of the Year Award 2025.

“Hearing the stories of resilience and determination from talented young individuals was truly humbling,” said Gill Lois, Apprenticeship Business Lead at LDE UTC’s Engineering Skills College. “We’re so proud of Tanvi and Christopher — their recognition is a testament to their hard work and to the value of high-quality apprenticeships.”
The ceremony highlighted Youth Build UK’s mission to celebrate young people who are building brighter futures in construction and the built environment.
A heartfelt thank you to Youth Build UK, including CEO Melinda Wild and Trustee Christopher Selby, for their continued support — and congratulations to all the finalists and winners.
We look forward to seeing what the future holds for our talented apprentices and the wider Youth Build UK community.
